Nanobodies for diagnostic applications
The small size along with the extreme stablility of camelid antibodies along with an ease of selection and production make these molecules ideal candidates to be developed into diagnostic applications. AbGenics has unique specific antibody hits to the major pathogens and is developing highly sensitive assays to detect low amounts of pathogens in the blood of patients with sepsis. Pseudomonas, Staphylococcus and Klebsiella are being targeted in the first phase in a project being funded by the Gates Foundation.
